Ravi Shastri has appointed as team India head coach. The decision has taken after a long discussion in BCCI chamber. Along with Ravi Shastri, Dravid has appointed as overseas batting consultant and Zahir Khan as bowling coach. The Ravi Shastri, Dravid and Zahir trio will serve their role till ICC World Cup 2019. The decision is taken by BCCI acting President CK Khanna.

After interviewing five candidates for team India coach designation, which vacant after Kumble resignation. The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) put the decision on hold on Monday, 10th July 2017. Ravi Shastri had a successful tenure from the year 2014 to 2016 and again he has given a chance to serve as the same role for at least two years. He has to restart his assigned role from India tour to Sri Lanka for test series that will start on July 26.
The CAC had interviewed Virendra Sehwag, Tom Moody, Richard Pybus and Ravi Shastri and Lalchand Rajput on Sunday, 9th July 2017. All of the candidates had suggested waiting for Kohli’s response. They were saying that this matter should be discussed with captain Virat Kohli first. CAC member Sourav Ganguly already pointed that Kohli’s input will be considered prior to any announcement. By the way, it’s not clear yet that what was Kohli’s view prior to the final decision made.

BCCI has taken a bold decision with World Cup 2019 keep in mind that Rahul Dravid is assigned for taking care of team India batting squad. ICC World Cup 2019 is scheduled to play in England. Former team India captain Rahul Dravid has the experience of coaching India’s A U-19 teams. Dravid is known as ‘Mr. Wall’ in his cricket tenure, Dravid added 13288 runs in 164 Test matches and 10889 runs in 344 ODIs.
