Chris Gayle Set To Play 1st T20I 2017: Chris Gayle: The King of T20 game is returning in West Indies team squad for the one-off T20I against India. Chris Gayle has not played international cricket since T20I World Cup 2016. The venue for the T20I match is set to Chris Gayle home ground of Sabina Park at Jamaica.

Gayle has been top scorer in the T20I game with 1519 runs at an average of 35.52. Due to poor performance, Lendl Simmons unlikely to play and Chris Gayle might replace him. Lendl Simmons who scored 6, 17 (not out) and 15 runs in the last series between West Indies Vs Afghanistan. Jason Holder who is Test & ODI Captain currently did not play against Afghanistan will be rested again in India Vs West Indies T20I match.

The match is fixed to play on July 9 after ongoing ODI series. The Jason Holder led side had recorded 11 run win over India in 4th ODI. India failed to chess 190 run target despite former Indian Captain sensational inning till 49th over. Jason Holder took five wickets and declared man of the match, it was a captain inning that he played.

“We welcome Chris back to the T20 squad. He is the most prolific batsman in this format and will add value to our team at the top of the order,” Courtney Browne, Cricket West Indies’ chairman of selectors, said. “He will get the chance to play on his home ground and against a top-quality Indian team.”

Chris Gayle will play his first T20  match at Sabina Park (home ground). The Jamaican batsman who achieved two T20 centuries last played an international match 1 year ago i.e World T20 final 2016 against England at Eden Gardens.
